Book Writing, Self Publishing, and Marketing Coach

Blogging and Social Media Delivers Highest ROI

Do you check your financial success odds of using one or another kind of book or business promotion-the ones that bring the highest Return on Investment (ROI)-BEFORE you use it?

In one discussion at my book group at LinkedIn, an excellent marketer said they use HARO and write articles for this media group. They get 25% accepted. Is this a good return on your time? Maybe. It all depends on which audience is your best influencer, client or book buyer.

“Judy Cullins, thank you for taking time to look at my blog

and make some recommendations. I made changes based on your

suggestions, which I think is a significant improvement.”

Ryan McManus

Since my almost 12 years online, over 9 years, I wrote almost 500 articles to market my 3 top book packages and my coaching on writing books, web pages that sell and article marketing. Ezine Articles is tough, but I got every article published that I posted there and on, a big advantage then? EA gets 15,000 people per hour (yes, Hour!) coming to their site looking for good information in different niches. It paid off for me in going from a few $1000 a month income to $6000 or more.

When blog writing became a better payoff for me, I left article marketing and concentrated on building my blog pages and getting ranked high on Google-In a few months, my visitors went up 57% and are still keeping my ranking lower each month (that’s good). It’s now about 330,000 and my goal is under 100,000 by January 1, 2011. This is just one way to test what’s working for you!

At the same time, I update my SEO at my site to get more competitive key words that search engines love.

Two people I admire said they were using a new social media “CinchCast.” I checked out its popularity and rankings before I leaped.

Here’s some social media stats I got a week ago from high to low traffic. The rankings represent how popular these websites are compared to the rest on the web.

  • Facebook is 2nd
  • Twitter is 9th
  • LinkedIn is 23rd
  • Blog Talk Radio is 2685
  • Cinch is 63,091

I know establishing relationships is all important, but it’s also a good idea to narrow your focus on the 3 best places to interact to get well known, respected and trusted. You save your social media marketing time and you focus on your best audience.

Be sure to check what working for you and what’s not? Then drop the less useful marketing and stay with the ones that pay off well.

Thank you for the interesting article, Judy. I agree that it is important to focus most of your time on the venues that provide the best results. I also think it is important to leave a little time to explore smaller and lesser known venues and run some experiments with them as well. It all adds up!

Useful article Judy! How can we find out the popularity of websites? Are those Alexa rankings or something else?

  • Judy Cullins

P.S. My score is good for small businesses. Not in the same league as twitter, hubpage or ezine articles.

Focus on what works. That's the secret!

Judy, I have been a fan and a follower of you for about 8 years, and have benefited a lot from your advice and know how. In particular, your recommendation to use LI to reach other professionals has been a great help.

Judy I thought this was a tremendous article. As you know I posted it to FWA Palm Coast blog. We have several members that are reluctant to get involved in social media. I hope that posting your article will help some of them see the light!

Judy, I am a bit confused when you say you use keywords that search engines love. Can you elaborate a bit please?

This article goes along with what I've been thinking. I have accounts on most of the social media mentioned to see what they contain. But I'm starting slowly and working up a knowledge and presence in one before going on to the next.
