    Thanks for the valuable info you provide. I have a question regarding ebooks. My book "Life Interrupted…" is designed help people with grief recovery resulting from any type of loss (employment, foreclosure, divorce, health, bereavement). Is writing a compact version (70 pages) and selling it as a ebook with refrences to the larger print book be a good idea? Although I have a Master's degree in Rehab Counseling what give me insight into loss is my personal experience (i.e. breavement - 7 family members in 12 years, divorce, employment, etc.)

    I plan to add pages to my website and use the suggestions you provided to make it more about the reader. Thanks again.

    Interesting approach. I think it is different for fiction than for non-fiction - very much like the print world. In fiction it's more common to see books around 9.99 and as little as .99.
    I think it's important to remember that you really don't buy an ebook, you buy a limited license to read it. Until that changes ebooks will sell for less than print.

    I've written an ebook based on my 16 years of teaching divorced parents' classes and stepfamily seminars and classes. I priced the book at $9.98 and made sure it is attractively laid out and had several opinions on the writing - all favorable. I have promoted through my websites, blog, Facebook, & Twitter, but have yet to make many sales - what am I doing wrong?

    @stepcoach-When I lleft academia and built my business around my signatre book "Wite your e Book or Other Short Book Fast!" i needed to engage readers and clients at the beginning and all through each chapter. Those lessons are in the book, and, I will be demonstrating that and showcasing 2 or 3 attendees in my upcoming small group coaching classes in Sept 12. Did you know the 9 hot selling points to pre-market? Did you create consistent formats for all your chapters-making it easier to read? Do you know all the ins and outs of social media?

    Hmmm. I’m loving this idea of offering the book as a home-study course. I’ve been planning to do some home-study courses, anyway.

    If one were to take an ebook and present it as a home-study course, how would one go about that? Would they add more info to the book; make themselves available for a little coaching; provide an audio or presentation to go along with it; or…just sell the book?

    Merry, Glad you are loving this idea-ecourses. You may want a coachinng session on it because I have created 25 or so ones when I did seminars and classes.

    Tips:

    One lesson per email. You’d want to follow my “One Edit Fast Writing Blueprint” to make it fun and engaging.

    Make the course a book kind of. Don’t include blank lines for student to fill in. advise them to write each assignment in a journal. Readers don’t like blanks.

    Don’t make the big mistake many do-that’s to give readers an assignment without giving them examples and…

    Give really clear directions. Most people don’t and you lose your readers.
